Welcome to Trudi’s Blog!
By Tim Hauserman
Recently, while leading a hike as part of a Cedar House Sport Hotel program called Finding Words in Nature, my friend Trudi Lee asked me what I was writing these days. I said, “I’ve been enjoying writing blogs.” Being Trudi, she said, “Write my blog! How much do you charge?” And within 5 minutes, we were off and running. Trudi has always been a decisive decision maker.
Trudi and I have been friends for 30 years. While working together as real estate agents for fifteen years, I was often the beneficiary of some of Trudi’s incredible Chinese cooking. I couldn’t pronounce what she called it, but loved to eat it. Some day, I want to write her fascinating life story. Her father came to America to open a laundry and to pay the cost of helping young Trudi and her mother escape from China after the communist government took over in the early 1950s. It took her several years and a number of harrowing adventures to make it to America. She remembers her first Thanksgiving in America, when her grandmother proudly presented what she thought was the biggest roast chicken she had ever seen…she had never seen a turkey before.
The purpose of this blog will be simple: To give Trudi’s clients and friends a place to go for information on fun things to do at Lake Tahoe. Are you looking for a great place to catch fall colors? Interested in trying skate skiing this winter? What special events are happening in the lake in the next few weeks that might strike your fancy?
I’ve lived almost my whole life in North Lake Tahoe, and have savored spending as much time as possible hiking, biking and cross-country skiing in this incredible place. Eventually my love of being in the Tahoe wilderness led me to write the official guidebook to The Tahoe Rim Trail. It was about that time that I began to discover that my true calling was to be a writer, not a real estate agent. I’ve published two other books, Monsters in the Woods: Backpacking with Children and Cross-Country Skiing in the Sierra Nevada. I write frequently for a variety of local and regional publications including Moonshine Ink, Sierra Heritage, Reno Magazine, Nevada Magazine, North Tahoe Weekly and Cross-Country Skier.
I hope you will come here often. I will be doing my best to pass on fun and interesting bits of information a few times a month.
