Get thee to The Yoga Room!
Ah the fall. No crowds, leaves of yellow and orange, and yet still some fairly warm days to enjoy the quiet waters of Lake Tahoe. But don’t be fooled. Winter and skiing is just around the corner.
When those deep snows, that we know are coming, arrive, you will want to be flexible and strong. Because you want to be happily skiing away all winter long. So keep riding your bike, paddling along the shore of the lake, or hiking to the top of mountains, but also…get into yoga class. Often.
The Yoga Room in The Cobblestone Center in Tahoe City provides classes for a variety of styles and ability levels seven days a week. Owner Jenna Minnes, a long time Tahoeite has collected an amazing group of instructors, who gear their classes towards the tight muscles of Tahoe’s busy outdoor lovers.
“I opened The Yoga Room to bring the community together to heal and support one another. It’s a great way to train and prep for all athletic endeavors, physically, mentally and spiritually,” said Minnes. “It’s another tool in the toolbox of healing.”
A great time to head to The Yoga Room is the first Friday of the month. The Yoga Room participates in Tahoe City’s First Friday event by giving back to those who need help in the community or around the world. The donation based classes in recent months helped local photographer Jason Abraham who was in a skiing accident, the Himalayan Institute after the earthquake this spring, Mental Health in the Mountains, which works to prevent suicide, and Tahoe Cross-Country Ski Area, which was suffering after the last three mild winters.
