The area also offers many options to use its easy transit system rather than drive. Avoid the new parking reservation systems and congestion of driving to the resorts.
Ski Resorts North Lake Tahoe and Truckee
Palisades Tahoe | Alpine Meadows: Located in Olympic Valley, Palisades Tahoe (as Squaw Valley) hosted the 1960 Winter Olympics. It's known for its diverse terrain and is now combined with Alpine Meadows, offering a vast skiing and snowboarding experience. One ticket gives you access to both resorts and visitors will love the diversity of ski runs.
Northstar California Resort: A local’s favorite, Northstar is situated in between Truckee and North Lake Tahoe on Highway 267. Northstar is known for its family-friendly atmosphere and a variety of terrain options. It offers a picturesque village with shops and restaurants. They also feature an ice-rink in the center of all of the shopping.
Sugar Bowl Resort: Located near Truckee, at the top of Donner Summit, Sugar Bowl is one of the oldest ski resorts in California. It has a rich history and offers a range of terrain for all skill levels.
Homewood Mountain Resort: Positioned on the west shore of Lake Tahoe, Homewood offers stunning lake views along with a range of terrain options. It's often praised for its scenic beauty. What it lacks in the bells and whistles of other ski resorts, it makes up for in its family friendly runs and scenic beauty.
Diamond Peak Ski Resort: Situated in Incline Village on the Nevada side of Lake Tahoe, Diamond Peak offers a more relaxed atmosphere with stunning views of the lake.
Mount Rose Ski Tahoe: Located to the northeast of Lake Tahoe, Mount Rose is known for its great snow conditions and diverse terrain. It's one of the highest ski resorts in the Lake Tahoe area.

TART (Tahoe Truckee Regional Transit)
TART provides bus service along the North and West shores of Lake Tahoe, state Route 89 from Tahoe City to Alpine Meadows, Olympic Valley, and state Route 267 to Northstar and Truckee. Ski Resort Shuttles
Many of the ski resorts including Heavenly, Northstar, and Diamond Peak, provide free shuttles to get you on the slopes. Check their websites to find schedules and pick up locations. Be advised that Palisades Tahoe requires parking reservations on weekends and holidays. Sharing rides in carpools allows you to park without reservations. Mountaineer provides free seasonal transit within Olympic Valley and Alpine Meadows for guests and residents. Download the app and call a ride from anywhere to anywhere within the two valleys.
