20 things to do at Tahoe before the March Miracle!
By Tim Hauserman
We all know, or at least hope, it is coming. The end of weeks of warm and dry and the arrival of a month of cold and snow. It has to happen. And when it gets here we will be skiing and forgetting how warm January and February were. But before it happens, enjoy what we have now by partaking of these twenty things to do at Tahoe that are best done without snow:
-Have the lake to yourself while you kayak or paddleboard on a warm, still, day.
-Admire the artistic rock pile formations that have been created on our beaches.
-Mountain bike on the Emigrant Trail north of Truckee.
-Hike the Rubicon Trail between Emerald Bay and Bliss State Park.
-Road bike between Boca and Stampede Reservoirs.
-Walk the lakeside path in Tahoe City between Fanny Bridge and the Tahoe Gal.
-Find a lawn chair and a good book and sit out in the sun on your back deck.
-Enjoy the warmth while strolling the sidewalks of Tahoe City.
-Contact The Gravity Shop in Tahoe City to try out a Fat Bike.
-Be a part of the Alpenglow Mountain Festival February 21-March 1st
-Be a part of Snowfest February 27-March 8th.
-Enjoy the views of Lake Tahoe and the Truckee River from the Tahoe Rim Trail heading north from Tahoe City.
-Check your emails while enjoying a beautiful cup of hot chocolate outside at The Coffee Bar in Truckee.
-Hike to the Lake View Bench at the top of the Lake View Trail at Tahoe Cross-Country Ski Area.
-Call a friend and meet for a picnic lunch on The Commons Beach.
-Hike to one of those wonderful east shore beaches and lie in the sun on a humongous boulder.
-Take a road trip to the Sierra Valley and check out the charming towns of Sierraville and Loyalton.
-Spend a day not shoveling. Not walking through snow. Not scraping ice off your windshield.
-Head on over to the Tree Top Park at Granlibakken and zip from tree to tree.
-And finally, after all that it is time for a yoga class and a nice long savasana.
